Feds subpoena Brooklyn church over possible business dealings between priest and former Adams boss: sources

Federal investigators are looking into possible business and financial dealings between two other people with ties to Mayor Eric Adams — his former boss and a Brooklyn priest, multiple sources said Friday.

The feds recently issued a subpoena to a Catholic church in Brooklyn asking for information about any dealings between one of its top priests, Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, and the former head of Hizzoner, Frank Carone, according to sources familiar with the matter.

It wasn’t immediately clear what Brooklyn federal prosecutors were looking for, and the investigation is said to be early, sources said.

Neither Gigantiello nor Carone, who are longtime friends, have been charged with wrongdoing.

Carone, who stepped down as a top aide to Adams in late 2022 and is now the chairman of his re-election campaign, is a lawyer who runs the private consulting firm, Oaktree, which advise high paying clients.

Gigantiello, who has been a priest since 1995 and served as an FDNY chaplain, is said to like to party and is often seen with Carone, sources said.

He and Carone have been friends for several years and both joined Adams on his trip to Rome earlier this year, when the mayor met Pope Francis, photos posted on social media.

The monsignor made headlines last year when he was deposed for allowing pop star Sabrina Carpenter to film a vulgar music video inside Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Williamsburg. 160.

She often boasts about her love of cooking on social media, has published a cookbook called “Breaking Bread” and created a line of pasta sauces called A Taste of Heaven – with the proceeds, she says , is donated to charity.

Gigantiello and a representative of the Diocese of Brooklyn did not respond to The Post’s request for comment on the subpoena, which was first reported by NBC New York.

Carone also could not be reached.

The US Attorney’s office in Brooklyn declined to comment.

News of the church’s appeal comes as the Adams administration faces a flurry of federal investigations that have culminated in a stunning series of attacks on Hizzoner’s top executives, close political allies and trusted aides of late.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are conducting several investigations, but have so far remained tight-lipped about the motive, possible charges and how the investigation might overlap.

No one, so far, has been accused or charged with any wrongdoing in the investigation.

Former NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban resigned last week after federal agents came to his door and seized his electronic devices as part of an intense corruption investigation linked to t’ motivation, sources said.

The three Banks brothers – Schools Chancellor David, Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Phil and private consultant Terence – all had their electronic devices seized by the feds.
